Staff at Hillcroft Primary School are already preparing for major changes in the provision of nursery care which happen later this year. The Government has announced an increase in free childcare from 15 to 30 hours a week for families which meet the eligibility criteria from September, and the facilities at the Caterham school’s nursery are already prepared for the change. Parents who are entitled to the existing 15 hours free provision have the chance to double-up under the initiative and it has allowed Hillcroft to offer full days. “Our nursery is well-established in the local community and we look forward to welcoming new faces joining our existing children. The government’s announcement means we can open our doors for longer,” said head teacher Miss Kellie Brazier. The nursery offers a fantastic outdoor learning area which is shared with the adjacent Hillcroft Primary School. Young pupils can enjoy the climbing frame, willow tunnel, garden area, trikes, scooters and other equipment. They can also plant flowers and vegetables, play musical instruments or have fun in the role play area. From the beginning of the new school year in September, Hillcroft will offer 30 hour sessions split over five days. There will be a nursery open day on Tuesday, 14th March from 9.30am to 10am and further information is available on 01883 342606. |
