The long wait for GCSE results finally ended for students at Oasis Academy Coulsdon on Thursday 24th. For the first time some subjects are awarding grades 9-1, alongside the more traditional A*-G grades. We were thrilled to watch students opening their results envelopes alongside anxious parents. Many students shed tears of joy as they celebrated the results of their five years of rigour, resilience and passion for learning.
64% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and Mathematics, comparable to our record- breaking results of the last few years; and an impressive 24% of all entries were graded A*-A.
Highest achieving students in the Academy have received results that are truly outstanding: Ben Wallner achieved 3 Grade 9s, 5A*s and 3 A grades including an incredible score of 158/160 in GCSE English Literature. Bethany Pankhurst was the top achieving female student achieving 3 Grade 9s, 5A*s and 2 A grades. She is moving on to Croydon High and we will follow her progress keenly. Congratulations are also in order for our Head Boy Dwain Tyndale who achieved 2 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8, 5 A*s and 2 A grades.
Principal Andy Booth was delighted with this year’s results saying, “I am extremely pleased with the results of many of our students and that the good work of previous years has continued despite the challenges of new examinations and specifications. I am proud of our students and the way they have worked so hard this year. I would also like to pay tribute to the staff who have worked tirelessly to support students, including giving up weekends and holiday time for interventions”.
The overall achievements for students at the Academy and further information will be available shortly on the Academy website. |
