A graduation ceremony for last year's Warlingham School A Level students was held at the Hilton Hotel, Croydon on Tuesday, 14th September 2010. An outstanding 98% of students passed their A Levels in August, with the boys out-performing the girls this year for the first time. An incredible nineteen students achieved the top grade A* this year, many of which were gained in Art. Over 230 people, comprising both students and family members, attended the ceremony to celebrate their success and receive certificates of graduation. In addition, Graduation Portfolios and Subject Prizes were also presented by Chair of the Governors, Paul Childs, and Academic Tutor, Graham Knott. The event was opened by Headteacher, Alison Woodhouse, who praised the students. She said: "This year's cohort has really embraced our ethos of 'Widening Horizons, Raising Aspirations'. They are excellent ambassadors of the school who I am sure will stay in contact and continue to inspire future students." Head of Sixth Form, Rob Scott, gave speech to the audience in which he congratulated not only the students' academic success but also their considerable commitment to wider learning. He credited the students as being "respectable and responsible citizens" who have also been recognised by OFSTED during the 2008 inspection as being, "exemplary ambassadors for the school and who demonstrate maturity, enthusiasm and commitment to their studies, extra-curricular activities and roles in the school and wider community." Warlingham Sixth Form has had one of its most successful years. This is not only reflected in the results but also in the increasing number of students who apply to join this OFSTED 'outstanding' post-16 establishment. One of the school's former students, Jamie Wilkes, was awarded the David Parr Prize (a previous Headteacher at the school) for 'outstanding success beyond Warlingham'. Jamie setup a theatre company, Belt Up, whose production of 'The Tartufe' and an adaptation of Kafka's, 'The Trial', were both played at the Southwark Playhouse in 2009.
