This month we feature Caterham resident Mr David Gold, owner of Gold Group International and Chairman of West Ham FC. Mr Gold is also Patron of a number of local charities including The Soper Hall Group, Whyteleafe FC and the Tandridge Community Fund and President of East Surrey Dial-a-Ride. Birthplace: London E13 (right opposite West Ham United's football ground!) Marital Status: Engaged to my lovely fiancée Lesley. Children: Jacqueline (CEO of Ann Summers) and Vanessa (MD of Ann Summers). One Granddaughter - Scarlett Rose. Cars: A Jaguar, a Silver Phantom Rolls Royce and a limited edition 'Blue Train' Bentley. Favourite Food & Drink: Skate with black butter and caper sauce with zucchini. Pinot Grigio and Tia Maria. Pets: One cute and loveable Yorkshire terrier called Daisy, who treats me like her pet! Childhood hero: Footballer Stanley Matthews. Favourite books: 'Pure Gold' - it's available to read free via my website and for 72p on Kindle. Pastimes: Playing golf in the grounds of my home in Caterham, flying my helicopter and speaking at seminars to inspire young entrepreneurs. Likes: Winning. Dislikes: Losing. Favourite TV show: Match of the Day. Favourite holiday destination: South of France. Who would you most like to throw a custard pie at? Barry Hearn, Chairman of Leyton Orient FC. Favourite songs of all time: The Righteous Brothers – 'Unchained Melody' and Hot Chocolate – 'You Sexy Thing'. Biggest influence on your life: My mother, who inspired me to work hard and achieve success over adversity. Proudest moment: Winning the Malta Air Rally for the second time in 1981. Most embarrassing moment: Raising my hand in a vote regarding Parachute payments on my very first day as a Premier League Chairman attending a Premier League Shareholders' meeting, only to discover I was the only one with my hand up! Where would you most like to live? I love living where I am in Caterham. Who would you most like to meet? Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. If you won the Lottery jackpot, how would you spend it? I'd give half to West Ham United and half to charity. |
