In last month's column I spoke about young people being approached which was understandably causing concern. Since half term I want to reassure you there have been no further reports of men approaching youngsters in Tandridge. I want to thank everyone for remaining vigilant. Please continue to report any suspicious incidents of this nature.

On 21st June a man was arrested in connection with the murder of Sarah Thomas in Nutfield. A 39- year-old was detained by Spanish officers just before 3am in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol. He is currently in the custody of the Spanish authorities.

June was an extremely busy month with the Caterham Festival, Warlingham Fair and not forgetting the World Cup! It has been great for myself and my team to meet many of you at these events which have been a great success. At the DeFest music festival I was fortunate to be asked to judge, along with Councillor Sally Marks, the Tandridge Has Talent competition. Well done to all entrants. You made our job very hard. Special congratulations to 'Edged' the overall winners.

And now some more good news; in June I welcomed back PC John Lee the crime reduction advisor for Tandridge, the first of a small number of staff who will be expanding the Neighbourhood Team. John knows the area well having previously been in the same post here until a year ago. Next month I will update you as to who the Tandridge Youth Intervention Officer is. I will be interviewing for that position in early July, so watch this column.

From Monday, 12th July, look out for your NSOs and PCSOs who will be wearing the new style shirts and trousers which are a more durable, comfortable and practical uniform, better suited to modern day policing.
