I have seen, and had to deal with, the devastating impact of the Government's austerity measures since 2010 - the crisis in social care, the loss of vital NHS services, and families struggling to pay their bills with many losing their homes. I have challenged the Tory government on the impact of cuts in social care. These cuts put tremendous strain on families, and the Tories offer nothing more than a sticking plaster solution to the social care crisis. I am an active campaigner for health services and have led challenges to the NHS where they have proposed hospital closures leading to reduced access and care for local people. Under the Tories, waiting lists have soared and it's getting harder than ever to see our local GP. The Government has failed to deliver the homes people need to live in, with housebuilding at historically how levels. The lack of supply makes it difficult for local people on low incomes to stay in the area and access jobs, with many resorting to insecure private renting. I want to see a better future for the many, not the few. Hitesh Tailor. |
