The 6th Air Aid Ball held on Saturday 24th June 2017, sponsored by Hugdell Solicitors, raised a record £80,000 for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance.
Guests were treated to a champagne reception, enjoyed live music from band Fake Tan and an exciting live auction took place at the black tie event inside Hangar 9 at Redhill Aerodrome; the first hangar to be built at the aerodrome in 1934.
Since the first Air Aid Ball in 2007, the biennial event, organised by a dedicated committee of local supporters, has now raised more than £355,000 for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance which relies almost entirely on public donations.
Andrew Farrant, Air Aid Ball Committee Chairman and Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trustee, said: “The success of this event would not have been possible without the corporate sponsorship received and the generosity of our guests on the night. It is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated and enthusiastic committee to deliver such an enjoyable event, which has raised a phenomenal amount of money for this worthwhile and necessary service.”
Each mission undertaken by the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance costs in the region of £2,500, so the fantastic sum raised on the night is enough to fund 32 potentially life-saving missions.
At Redhill Aerodrome, work is currently underway on Hangar 10 to house the charity’s new helicopter; an AW169. |
