At a recent meeting of Caterham Round Table, Glen O'Dwyer was inaugurated as the new chairman for 2011-2012, taking over from Cliver Harper. Peter Dommett is Glen's Vice-chairman, and Andy Parr is the new President, following in the footsteps of Andy Self. New chairman, Glen, said: "It's a privilege to be chairman of such a great organisation that not only provides so much help for the local community, but also allows a means for us to enjoy ourselves immensely. I wish I had joined 20 years ago! In the last year or so we have raised over £50,000 for charity whilst having a great time." Glen has taken the helm as the Caterham Round Table celebrates its sixtieth year and the members are marking the special anniversary with a 'Charter Night' black tie dinner being held on Wednesday 18th May (black-tie to be confirmed). The Charter Night promises to be a memorable evening, with a three course dinner plus entertainment lined up for the guests. The Round Table would like to create a display of old photographs to go on show at the Charter Night. If you used to belong to the Caterham Round Table and have some old photos that can be used in the display please call Glen on 01883 336633 or e-mail him at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Tickets for the event are now on sale at £25 each. To book tickets for the Charter Night please call Glen on the above number. Caterham Round Table meets twice a month (ish) at the Surrey National Golf Club in Chaldon and the usual format is a meal with drinks and a guest speaker. The members sometimes arrange a visit out - such as for a bike ride, to build a shed, visit a firestation, organise a firework display or run an assault course. Everyone is welcome to visit, just ring 01883 336633 and ask for Glen or Rob. |
