Ken is already well known in the area. For six years he has chaired the Empowerment Board Meetings for people with disabilities in East Surrey. He is a member of Surrey Safeguarding Board and is a member of Surrey Coalition for people with disabilities. He retired early in 1995 when he was a Principal Education Officer dealing with educational problems in a large London borough. He was involved with child protection and was a qualified social worker. As if that was not enough Ken still has time to enjoy his grand children, to do gardening and take care of a large fish pond. He also has a full pilot's licence. He has been with COGS for five years and gets a great deal of satisfaction from being involved with Club activities, especially fund raising events and being the 'real' Father Christmas visiting local schools. He said: "I am delighted to be elected President and I look forward to the challenges ahead. Being a member of a Lions Club is not just working for the community; it can be a lot of fun and brings with it good friendship" Ken is married to Rita and lives in Warlingham. |
