New local dance company 'Second Hand Dance' are making their first appearance at The ARC on 26th August by presenting a promenade dance performance. 'Isle of View' is a dance show with a difference as it takes the audience on a tour around the building and grounds of the ARC. Isle of View was choreographed in response to local artists work that appeared in the Epsom Contemporary Artists Network's Summer Festival recentlyt. Inspired by the shapes and content of the artwork, the artistic director Rosie Heafford and her dancers, have taken these ideas on to build a beautiful journey that is playful and quirky involving walking on walls and twisting their bodies to create animal-like creatures. Please go to www.secondhanddance.co.uk for pictures and videos of previous performances. Rosie Heafford is a graduate from the Trinity Laban conservatoire for music and dance and moved back to Surrey in 2010. She has since been commissioned by Surrey Arts and Woking Dance Festival to make dance on professionals and community groups. Her interests lie in choreographing dance for non-theatre locations and working with intergenerational dance groups. Her work is often informed by the experiences of those that dance it, using personal stories to inspire movement, and the traditions of folk dance. Isle of View was supported by the Ideas Tap 'innovation fund' and Surrey Arts. Comments from the audience include: "Serene, magical. It just fitted!" "So different, and very moving." Tickets are on sale now priced at £5. To book please call Box Office on 01883 330380 or pop into between 10am-5pm Monday to Sunday. |
