A fundraising committee from Caterham have come together to organise a charity ball to raise valuable funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. The committee managed to raise an impressive £1,000 through hosting the elegant evening at the Reigate Manor Hotel on Saturday 2nd February. Around six months of planning went in to ensuring 'The Magical Ladies Night' went without a hitch. Committee members Andy Smith and Anthony Lockton managed to obtain a huge array of prizes for the raffle which raised the majority of the funds. Prizes included football tickets donated by West Ham Football Club, a signed England cricket bat from the South Africa Test Tour as well as hampers, gift sets and restaurant vouchers. A magician entertained guests before and during the five course sit down dinner, along with photographer Nick Whitaker who spent the evening taking group portraits. Keith Harris, Fundraising Committee Leader, said: "It was a brilliant night. The raffle was so different and people loved that. I'm pleased everyone had so much fun while raising money for such a worthwhile cause." The money raised from the event will be used to purchase multimedia equipment and a selection of books for the children cared for by the Oncology Outreach and Palliative Care Team. The team work closely with children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and provide support to them and their families. |
