On Thursday 30th May, the Arc was proud to unveil its Sponsors' Wall as a tribute to people who have donated substantially to the Arc for its widespread community arts programme. The wall was opened by the Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Beverley Connolly, who said: "I would like to thank sponsors, volunteers and staff at the Arc for providing a thriving community hub and I encourage new sponsors to come forward." Many current sponsors were in attendance such as local businessman and Arc patron, David Gold, and Chief Executive of the Caterham Barracks Trust, Dick Moran. Some of the volunteer workforce were also present and heralded equally for the achievements of the last three years. Louise Tennuci, who volunteers at the Arc, said: "The Arc means the world to me. It has allowed me to do something meaningful for my local community, gain confidence in a working environment and meet new people over the last three years." The Arc is owned by the Caterham Barracks Community Trust and it is tasked by the Trust to provide community benefit and to work with those whose voices are quietest. Recent projects include multi-arts work with adults with disabilities from the Colebrook Day Centre in Redhill, work with young people in partnership with Surrey Police and the YMCA, and a tour of secondary and special schools with a project to tackle stress combining drama and meditation. Currently the Arc is working on a production of 'The Rabbit King' in partnership with Another Way Theatre Company and organising the Carnival procession for this year's Caterham Carnival. |
