Celebrities raise funds for charity |

A colourful and hugely successful fund raising event was held on Friday 7th June at Surrey National Golf Club in Caterham. The event was organised by magistrate Novello Noades, wife of Crystal Palace's former chairman Ron Noades. Many well-known faces were amongst the guests attending the event, held to raise money jointly for the South Wales based Velindre Lung Cancer Research Charity and The Tadworth Children's Trust. Ann Summers boss Jacqueline Gold, Vice President of the Trust said: "On behalf of The Children's Trust I would like to thank Ron and Novello Noades for their incredible support in the planning of this event and to everyone that attended the evening who helped to support such a wonderful charity. I cannot thank you enough for the help you have given to children with multiple disabilities in the UK." Guests on the evening enjoyed a three course meal, entertainment and dancing. Weather girl Sian Lloyd was also in attendance. Novello and Sian are supporters of the Velindre Charity and in recent years have climbed Kilimanjaro, walked the Inca Trail and cycled in America raising funds for the charity. Amongst the other celebrities and big business people attending were Karen Millen, founder of the hugely successful Karen Millen clothes chain, Jacqueline's father David Gold - Chairman of West Ham FC, TV's Place in the Sun presenter Laura Hamilton, Yolanda Costa - co-founder of coffee chain Costa Coffee, Sunseeker boss David Lewis, Crowson Fabrics owner Derek Crowson, Cancer Consultant Surgeon Steven Ebbs, Peter Coughlan (Coughlan bakeries) and wife Mary, owner of Purley ladies wear boutique Lucindas. MC and auctioneer for the evening was Met Police Wimbledon Borough Commander Darren Williams. Novello said: "The event was a huge success. Darren did a fantastic job as auctioneer where a staggering £19,000 was raised. My main aim for these functions is for everyone to enjoy the event whilst supporting such worthwhile causes. People's generosity never ceases to amaze me and tonight was no exception, as is evident from the amount raised! " Among the prizes was afternoon tea in the House of Commons, board room tickets to West Ham, a family photo shoot with KJ Photographic and ten days in a villa in Barbados. The next event Novello is running will be held at Westerham Golf Club on Friday September 20th and will be in aid of Cystic Fibrosis and Velindre Cancer Research. |
