On Sunday 6th June Caterham will be holding its first ever Food Festival as part of the Caterham Festival. Tandridge District Council recently gave the event the thumbs up and granted the licence to permit the sale of food from stalls in Croydon Road, Caterham Valley. Caterham Festival chairman and organiser of the Food Festival, Andy Parr, said: "Tandridge District Council have been brilliant, really helpful. Surrey County Council have also been very supportive, giving us permission to close the road so that we can go ahead with the event."
Many local restaurants will also be serving up their specialities at the festival, and some of the shops in Croydon Road will be open for business. There will be the opportunity to take a look around the new 'Street' Youth Centre in Godstone Road which will soon be opening its doors to local youngsters.
The Food Festival, which will be open from 1pm until 5pm, promises to be another highlight in the programme of activities lined up for the Caterham Festival. Andy said: "I think this will be a fantastic day, very relaxing with lots of lovely food!"
There will be 18 stalls in the 'International Market' and Andy is still looking for more local businesses or individuals who would like to set up a stall to sell food. If you would like to run a stall at the Food Festival, telephone Andy Parr on 01883 340000 or 07802 846902.
