On Saturday 21st September the scull and crossbones was flying high for the annual Pirates Day in Church Walk, Caterham. Local store managers, their staff and the centre management team dressed for the occasion with Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Bones and town crier Sonia Hunt entertaining the crowds. Children could also have their faces painted by Bubblegum Face Painting. Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Beverley Connolly, presented the prizes to the winners of the fancy dress competition who were five-year-old Max Bradrick from Croydon (first), threeyear- old birthday girl, Darcie Southon from Godstone (second) and four-year-old Oscar Howard from Kenley (third). Shelley Filippi Centre Manager said: "We would like to thank all the public who supported our event by shopping locally. Morrison's provided free all day parking, which ensured our shoppers could enjoy themselves and stay longer. The fancy dress competition had an exceptionally high standard of costume and attention to detail. Caterham Dene League of Friends and Caterham Sea Cadets joined us on the day to fundraise via games of chance. We look forward to seeing you all at our Guys and Ghouls Day on 26th Oc- |
