The Caterham Festival is set to take Caterham by storm again next year, with plans already being unveiled to include 'DeFest', a twoday music event to be held at de Stafford School in Caterham-on-the-Hill on 19th and 20th June.
Day one will feature 'Tandridge has Talent' with 40 schools across the district lined up eager to showcase their talents.
Whilst the action on day one is expected to attract young people and families, those seeking a more relaxing experience can listen to a selection of jazz, classical, choral and other 'easy listening' music on day two. DeFest organiser, Mark Jones, said that he wants the weekend to appeal to everyone from ages 0-99 and for local businesses to get involved by offering practical help and sponsorship.
Mark said: "I am really excited because DeFest is going to be brilliant. The head of de Stafford, Mark Phillips, is all for it and wants the school to be fully involved. The Festival Committee wanted to organise something different for this year that will appeal to everyone and will help to bring in the money we need to fund the Festival in the future. Next year is going to be fabulous in Caterham!"
A transport service to De- Fest will be arranged for those who would otherwise be unable to enjoy the entertainment.
Other new Festival events planned for next year include a food festival and a cycle race from the Valley to the Hill. Event organisers are looking for local bands that would like to play at the DeFest, and anyone who is interested in helping out.
