Detectives investigating a theft at a jewellers' in Oxted have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak with in connection with the offence. The incident happened at 1.15pm on Friday, 30th April, when two men walked into Decorus, Station Road East, and asked to look at a ladies' Cartier watch. After the employee retrieved the 18-carot yellow-gold Cartier Panthere watch, worth £8,500, one of the suspects grabbed it and both men fled from the shop. The first suspect is described as a white man, aged between 20 and 25, 5ft 10' to 6ft tall, of slim build, with short dark hair and a Mediterranean complexion. He was wearing a Navy blue waist-length jacket which had a light logo on the right side and a smaller logo on the back of the coat and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a white man, aged between 20 and 25, 6ft to 6ft 2' tall, of slim build and with short dark hair. He was wearing a Navy blue jacket and spoke with a speech impediment. A third man was waiting for the suspects outside the shop but there is no description of this man. No one was injured during the incident. Before this theft the suspects attempted to steal two bottles of Champagne, Krug worth £125 and Veuve Clicquot worth £110, from Wine 100.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Ian Chadwick said: "I am appealing to members of the public to look closely at the CCTV images and if you recognise this man please tell me who he is.
"This group is responsible for two offences committed in Oxted on Friday, 30 April, and with your help I would like to bring them all to justice.
"We know they left Decorus and ran down an alleyway near Boots car park and into Ellice Road but we do not know where they went after that. Can you help? Do you remember seeing a group of men matching the suspects' descriptions in the Oxted area on Friday afternoon?
"I must stress no one was injured during these incidents however the experience left staff members, and customers, very shaken.
"I hope someone will recognise the suspect and come forward with his name. Even the smallest piece of information could make all the difference to my investigation."
