The design of the new skate park. Tandridge District Council is using funding from a new development to replace Mill Lane skate park in Hurst Green. A new concrete skate park has been designed and developed in consultation with user groups and Surrey County Council’s Youth and Senior Community Officers. Gravity Skate Parks will be constructing the new park at a cost of £50,000. The concrete construction has been selected as it is more sustainable and will reduce maintenance and repair costs. Work starts on 9 June and is expected to take a month. Having taken into account the views and comments of local residents, the site will remain in its original location and will not be brought closer to Mill Lane. Council officers have been working with the Surrey Police Safer Neighbourhood team and Crime Prevention advisor to ensure the site is designed and managed in a way that keeps anti social behaviour to a minimum and provides good visibility of those using the site. Paul Barton, Chief Community Services Officer, said: “We have been fortunate to get the funding from the development to replace the skate park, which was vandalised last year. The new design should please the users of the skate park while minimising the need for repairs.” |
