Orpheus students return to the Rose Theatre in Kingston this July to perform their fantastic new show ‘Dreamland’. Set to be one of their best yet, Dreamland is a completely original professional production performed by talented students from the Orpheus Centre, a performing arts college for young disabled adults based in Godstone. The piece has been created entirely by Orpheus students, from devising the drama and writing the music to designing costumes and creating the backdrops. Set in Dreamland, “the happiest place on earth”, the show will use live music, performance, video and visual art to tell the story of a misfit camera crew who dare to question the truth behind Dreamland’s glossy appearance. Director Helen Jackson-Lyall, an Orpheus drama tutor, promises the show will take audience members “on a roller coaster ride through a world of shadows and illusion, deception and disco.” Orpheus students always put on an incredible performance, with past shows receiving praise like: “Stunning, inspirational and up-lifting” and “a true West End performance.” The performance will be part of Creative Youth’s International Youth Arts Festival in Kingston, which showcases high calibre creative work by young artists from across the country. Call the Rose Theatre Box Office on 08444 821 556 or visit www.iyafestival.org.uk to book tickets. Visit www.orpheus.org.uk/dreamland for more info. Tickets cost from £6 to £16. |
