Sixth Form students and staff at Oasis Academy Coulsdon have been celebrating the success of their A Level students yesterday, Thursday 14th August.
Principal, Andy Booth, said: "I would like to congratulate all our Sixth Form students on their outstanding achievement. We are really pleased with our A level results and would like to thank staff and students who have worked so hard. We are delighted to report a 96% pass rate at A2 Level, with 39% of the cohort achieving A*, A, B Grades".
Initial analyses of the results show that Languages, Drama & Theatre Studies and BTEC Science were three of the strongest subject performances.
Head Boy Daniel Borer excelled in his BTEC Extended diploma in Science with Distinction * Distinction, Distinction. His results have secured his place at Reading University to study Food Science and Business, a 4 year course which includes a placement year in industry. His ultimate career goal is to work in research and development for Mars Ltd.
Academy Head Girl Mari Hibberd McWhirr was delighted with her results and intends to spend a year working before applying to Greenwich University to study Paramedic Science.
Yashley Bissonauth, 19 from South Croydon, was thrilled with his BBC grades in Business, Geography and Psychology and is going on to study Law at Brunel University.
Nineteen year old James Jugghoo from Shirley was delighted with his C grades for History and Maths to add to his B grades Business Studies and Distinction in BTEC Sport. His results mean he has been accepted at Portsmouth University to study Law.
Ashvin Jalabhay was delighted with his grades and is looking forward to studying Fashion Promotion at Ravensbourne.
The Academy hosted European students on an education exchange programme this year. Coming to live in a foreign country, away from family, in a completely different education environment, the students had a lot of adjustments to cope with but all did exceptionally well achieving 100% passes at A* - C grades in their AS exams with one student, Massimiliano Marinaro achieving an A in English Literature.
Assistant Principal and Director of Sixth Form Emer Lesova said: "I am extremely proud of all the students they have worked so hard and fully deserve their success. We are particularly proud that 100% of our students have secured a place at university, apprenticeships or another educational institution."
