Utilising the local Waitrose Caterham Community Matters monthly green token scheme has enabled Caterham Rotary Club to raise £350 towards Prostate Cancer UK. During a recent lunchtime meeting at Surrey National Golf Club Caterham Rotary President Mike O’Reilly presented Prostate Cancer UK’s local representative Barry Cogdell with a cheque. 

Barry went on to deliver a interesting talk on Prostate Cancer and Prostate disease and he will be returning to the Club in October as guest speaker at a public event focusing on Prostate disease which Caterham Rotary are in the process of planning. Full details will be published nearer the time. 

Steph Barrett Caterham Rotary’s Community Service Chairperson said “we were very pleased to be involved in this joint project with Prostate Cancer UK and the monies raised by our Club will be used to support the on-going research into this disease in men. Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s largest men’s health charity and they aim to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life.”

 Prostate Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.

 Over 42,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's more than 110 men every day.

 Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 10,500 men every year.

 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.

 Over 300,000 men are living with and after prostate cancer.
