On 23 April, Caterham & District Horticultural Society brought a splash of colour to Caterham. The Society’s Spring Show took place at Hillcroft Primary School. Hopeful local gardeners entered 85 entries in 49 categories. Mrs Jean Burns-Thomas won three top accolades for her cut flowers and floral arrangements. This included the Spring Cup for ‘best in show’ for her daffodils and narcissi. Winner Tabitha Wren collected both a cup and a shield for her entries. Show Secretary Robert Kelly ran the show. He said: ‘Despite the warm start to the year, with daffodils out in December, we still managed to create an excellent display. It was a real credit to Caterham’s gardeners’. Society Chairman, Debbie Fox said:'This year we added five classes of tulip to the show schedule. This resulted in a glorious colourful display.’
