Students at de Stafford are celebrating the School’s best ever set of GCSE results. Despite well-publicised reforms to the qualifications system the school secured a significant improvement on all key performance measures compared to previous results dating as far back as 2010. 66% of students achieved the key threshold measure of A*-C grades in both English and Maths. This is an 18% increase on last year and makes de Stafford one of the most rapidly improving schools in the county, confirming the progress noted by Ofsted when they judged the school to be good in all areas last October.
Headteacher, Jeremy Garner, said: “These outcomes do not happen by accident and are a testament to the dedication and hard-work invested by the students as well as the excellent support and guidance provided by staff, governors and parents. I am delighted that the cohort as a whole achieved such a fantastic set of results.
The ability profile of the year group on entry to de Stafford in Year 7 was significantly below the national average; the fact that they leave with outcomes well above the national average in Year 11 is a reflection of the superb progress they have made in their time here. Every student contributed so much to the school community and we wish them all the very best for the future.”
The percentage of A*/A grades awarded to de Stafford students has more than doubled in the past two years. Leah Blundell, Matthew Gubby, Millie Mann and Elise Miller achieved straight A*/As in all of their examinations, and Dan Behan and Stella Lambert were awarded 10 A*/A and 9A*/A grades, respectively.
Whilst rightly celebrating the fantastic achievements of the high attainers, the school was delighted with the progress made by all students from their different academic starting points on entry to the school in Year 7. The following students made particularly good progress in their time at de Stafford in terms of their ‘value-added’ score; Alex Hall, Adhulya Thomas, Kenny Seagrove and Yasmin Kinghorn.
