Caterham resident, Alix Ramsier, will be running two ultra-marathons this year to raise money for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund.
On Saturday 11th March he will be completing a through the night race over eight hours, and in June he will be completing a 40 mile run from Coulsdon to Aldershot. He trains extremely hard, aiming to run 80-90 miles a week to prepare for these challenges.
Alix is running in aid of the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund to support two-year-old Isabella who suffers from a Hypoplastic Right Heart, which has meant she has had to have five open heart surgeries in her short life, the first within just days of being born.
Alix’s wife, Billie Ramsier who is a childhood friend of Isabella’s mother, Becky Rodgers, said: “I can only imagine the strain, heartache and emotion that the whole family has gone through yet they are so strong. Isabella and her family regularly visit Leeds General Infirmary and hand out gifts and support to the children on the ward where she too was treated and is still being treated today. Isabella still has journey ahead but she has conquered so much so far and she will continue to fight and have a wonderful future with a wonderful family”.
So far Isabella’s family and Alix have raised a combined total of over £2,400 but are aiming to raise even more. Isabella's story can be viewed at: https://www.instagram.
