In the early hours of Wednesday 5th April, at approximately 5.30am two men dressed in balaclavas forced entry into fashion clothing shop Gas Station on Station Road East, Oxted. 

The offenders used a stolen white Land Rover Defender, to pull the shutters away from the store. They then used a sledgehammer to break the glass shop window to gain entry.

Once the offenders had bundled as much clothing as they could into the vehicle, it is believed they drove towards the A25.
A quantity of clothing was taken, believed to be worth thousands of pounds.

The offenders are both described as being 6ft tall, of a large build wearing blue jeans and balaclavas. The first offender wore a green hooded top, the second offender wore a black jacket or hooded top.

The Land Rover is described as white, the 110 Defender model and has 5 doors. The registration is F197NWK. 

Inspector Dan Gutierrez said “These callous offenders have caused significant and costly damage to an independent business. Leaving the owners devastated and with a huge amount of work to repair and restock the shop.
“Not only have the offenders severely impacted the shop owners business, but they have caused significant inconvenience to the Land Rover owner.

“The incident lasted just six minutes which leads me to believe the offenders had likely been planning this raid so I would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the days leading up to this incident to get in touch. 

“Anyone who is offered designer clothing in suspicious circumstances is also urged to contact us.”

A number of enquiries are being carried out by investigating officers. I urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything during the incident, or saw the vehicle travelling away from the scene towards the A25 to get in touch.
