Steve Kirk, the owner of The Village Inn in Caterham-on-the-Hill announced recently that he was thinking of selling the historic pub/restaurant, but has quashed the rumour that the Wetherspoons restaurant chain will be buying the pub.

“I am thinking of selling the pub because my family is growing and I want to invest in a business with more sociable hours,” explained Steve. “Although it is in the ideal location for a Wetherspoons, I would much rather a local person bought the Village Inn – maybe a local publican or restauranteur.”

Steve said that even in today's economic climate the pub is still doing surprisingly well.

“The pub is ready to go – it has good quality fixtures and fittings and the living accommodation is freshly decorated.  There are five bedrooms so whoever buys The Village Inn can move in and trade immediately.”
