Retail and business members of the 'Shop Smart, Shop Local' scheme heard about new plans recently to help independent shops and businesses, particularly from a customer's point of view. Andrew Browne, chairman of the Caterham Business Partnership said: "We are delighted to offer our business members an opportunity to work with Metamorphosis, who offer business advice to many independent retailers. It is part of our programme for Caterham." Initial shops who lost no time in signing up for the retail programme are JJ Browne Jewellers, Peter Groom Jewellery and Vivace Pianos. It is expected that up to 15 Caterham businesses will be able to benefit from this new grant -assisted programme. Chris Windridge, Chairman of the 'ABC' town healthcheck and an originator of Shop Smart commented: "We are delighted to partner with Metamorphosis and Skills South East to bring extra help to our high street businesses. It goes with the other improvements throughout Caterham to shopping areas, which the ABC initiative has brought to the town to make it a more attractive place to shop, work or live." Shop Smart will also be at Meet Caterham Business on 22nd October at Surrey National Golf club with representatives from Metamorphosis. If you are an individual Shop Smart member make sure you have your membership cards available for exciting offers throughout the town and watch out for details in the local press, leaflets and a newsletter covering the year-end. Plans are being made for a grand draw or lottery, more artificial snow, special Christmas attractions and new offers for Shop Smart members. Shop Smart's website www.shopsmartcaterham. co.uk has further details. Shop Smart cards are available at any of the above shops, or Touche, Caterham Pine, La Fiaba, or Swift Windows or by applying online via the website.
