If you would like to play golf alongside a celebrity, tickets are selling fast for the 'Malaika Kids Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament' at Foxhills Golf and Country Club at Ottershaw near Chertsey on Tuesday 5th October. Amongst the celebrities attending will be David Haye, Tim Henman, Nasty Nick Batemen, Les Ferdinand, Jimmy White, John Virgo and John Salako plus some PGA tour professionals. Caterham resident, Tracey Ampaw, is organising the event to help the Malaika Kids charity achieve its goal of creating and sustaining a Children's Village in Tanzania. The inspiration for this event came from the dedication to Malaika Kids UK shown by Haris Ahmed, a Woldingham medical student who died tragically in March aged 21. Haris was in the middle of an intensive fundraising campaign to support the building of the Children's Village and last year he raised ¡ê1,700 by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Tracey said: "I know Haris's father, Dr Ahmed, and he asked me if I would help to organise something that would raise a lot of money for Malaika Kids in memory of Haris. I have helpd to organise events before for the Golf Roots Foundation, and Foxhills has been very supportive." Alongside golf taking place at Foxhills, there will be an evening event, with a sit down meal, raffle and a charity auction with some fabulous lots on offer including a helicopter trip with Les Ferdinand and a chauffeur driven trip in a Rolls Royce to see The Lion King and meet the cast afterwards. Anyone who can is encouraged to participate. Individuals that are interested may enjoy the whole day including the golf and the evening function for ¡ê140. Those wishing to attend the meal and the charity auction in the evening are welcome with tickets at ¡ê50. Tickets can be purchased up to 3pm on 4th October by calling Tracey on 07958 668318.
