Officers from Surrey Police have charged two men after a cannabis factory was found operating in Whyteleafe. Acting on intelligence received a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was executed at an address in Godstone Road on Saturday, 26th September. The three-storey house was searched and officers discovered more than 470 cannabis plants being cultivated on the first and second floors. PC Sorella Staines said: "As soon as officers entered the house it was clear a full scale cannabis factory was in operation cultivating more than 470 plants using a hydroponics system. The first and second floors were filled with cannabis plants all of which were various stages of maturity. This was a sophisticated cannabis factory and the plants we have recovered have an estimated street value of approximately £95,000. Drugs misuse is a community problem and I would urge anyone who has any suspicions about illegal drugs supply to always come forward and speak with an officer. Cultivation of cannabis is a criminal offence and Surrey Police will not tolerate the supply of illegal drugs. I would appeal to members of the community to remain vigilant to help us in the fight against the illegal supply of drugs. With your help we can continue to crackdown on cannabis factories and those who profit from supplying illegal drugs." Bao Nguyen, 51, and Tam Nguyen, 25, both of Godstone Road, Whyteleafe, were charged with producing controlled drugs namely class B cannabis. They appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates Court on Tuesday. |
