Members of the Oakhall Church Youth Group are once giving up their half-term holiday to offer practical help to any Caterham residents who need it. During this annual initiative, the 25 young people in the Youth Group, aged between 15 and 20 years, make themselves available to help with all manner of everyday tasks such as shopping, leaf-sweeping, lifting and carrying and much more besides. Giles Fairman-Bourne, one of the group's leaders, said: "It's our way of showing God's love in our own community. Not only is it free and 'no strings attached' it's also great fun for everyone involved, and supervised by the team of leaders." Demonstrating faith by actions is a hallmark of Oakhall Church, which has been at the heart of the Caterham scene for well over a century. Giles said: "We know that many of our neighbours find some everyday tasks a real challenge and really appreciate a helping hand from time to time, and that's what this week is all about." The initiative runs from Monday 25th October to Friday 29th October and to ask for help, simply contact the Youth Group team after 6pm on 07984 786 414 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
