Surrey Police is appealing for information after thousands of pounds worth of goods and money were stolen from four businesses during overnight burglaries in Caterham-on-the-Hill. The offences happened between 4pm on Monday, 20 and 10am on Tuesday, 21 December, at Capital dry cleaners, Ballet Box and Bambinos in High Street and Pets Life on Chaldon Road. Items including a large key cutting machine, a dog lead and loose change from the tills were stolen. Detectives from Reigate CID are making a number of enquiries, CCTV from the location is being obtained and the investigation is on-going. Neighbourhood Specialist Officer PC Craig Roberts said: “It’s rare for four business premises to be targeted in such a small area at the same time and quite rightly these retailers are concerned. They have spent many years building up thriving businesses and now they have to endure the inconvenience and cost of repairing and replacing the stolen items and damaged doors. “I will be working closely with my CID colleagues in order to identify and arrest those responsible but I would appeal to anyone who was in High Street, Caterham-on-the-Hill overnight between Monday and Tuesday who may have seen something suspicious to come forward. It is vital if you were in the area between 4pm and 10am you speak to an officer as your information could make all the difference to this investigation. “I would also urge all local businesses to be vigilant and not leave any cash in tills overnight. With your help we can restore the retailers’ piece of mind and ensure justice is done.” Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detectives at Reigate CID on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference TD/10/6051 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Call 0845 125 2222 for all non-emergency policing matters. Call 999 if you have a genuine emergency requiring the attendance of the police (eg a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger). Call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have information about crime and don't want to leave your name.
