Final preparations are under way for the launch of Ridge Radio this spring. Mark Jones, who first presented the concept of a new local radio station for Tandridge at a meeting at The Arc in Caterham three and a half months ago, is delighted with the progress that has since been made. "The idea has become a reality and it would not have happened without the huge support we have received from the local community and press," said Mark. "Already it is like one big happy family! We have people from all walks of life involved including doctors, vets and fishermen. We have also accepted work placements from de Stafford and Warlingham schools and are currently in talks regarding an afterschool club for students interested in Media Studies." Ridge Radio, which is based Dave Roberts, soon to be presenting music on Ridge Radio. in The Village, Caterham-onthe- Hill, has over 30 DJs preparing to present shows including local resident, Dave Roberts, who is completely new to radio. "I was excited about the idea right from the start," said Dave. "I have been transferring my vinyl tracks onto CD and will be playing 'music for adults' - from Burt Bacharach to Black Sabbath and everything in between! If I can influence some people to listen to the music I play, then that would be nice." Others taking to the airwaves include Carlo Atzeni, who will present music from the '80s onwards; Chris Medhurst, who will be playing club classic type music and Bob Wilson with music from the '50s to '80s.
