- International trade - 60% of UK productivity gain is driven by businesses that are internationalised. The area has some slight competitive advantage in this, but the proposal is to significantly increase the number of firms who trade internationally.

The vision of Coast to Capital Partnership is straightforward and exciting. It places international growth and entrepreneurship at its very heart. The aim is to transform business and economic performance so that the area can compete in any international marketplace. The Coast to Capital LEP aims to develop an economy that is trade-led with a business community that is outward looking, investment focussed and driven by the need to be innovative. It will have a skilled workforce delivering high value added and knowledge-driven products and services. Coast to Capital has two key priorities: This is a chance for experienced business leaders to play a key role in influencing economic development and business growth in this area. Coast to Capital are looking for persuasive and influential business people who can establish the Coast to Capital Partnership as the strategic force in economic development, and who will help forge positive and collaborative relationships with business and trade organisations, the existing Area Partnerships and other key players, such as higher and further education. The Coast to Capital Board will comprise no more than 14 members in total. Five local authority leaders, together with a representative from higher/further education have been allocated seats on the Board. We are therefore looking for a private sector Chairman and up to seven business leaders. The closing date for applying is: Midday 21st February 2011.
