Officers from East Surrey’s Proactive Investigation Team are appealing for information following a burglary at a property in Chaldon in which jewellery was stolen.
Burglars broke into the property in Hilltop Lane sometime between 2.40pm and 5.45pm on Wednesday, 17 February.
They searched the entire property for valuable items and stole several items of jewellery, which are distinctive and all of sentimental value, along with money totalling £220.
Items stolen include a pear shaped turquoise stone on a silver chain in a pink presentation box, a turquoise and brown compressed stone silver backed pendant with loop edging, a string of pearls with pearl drop and marquise clasp and pearl earrings in a navy blue with gold edging presentation box, a Timex watch with black face and black leather strap and a silver Kodak camera.
Detective Constable Audrey Cumiskey, who is leading the investigation, said: “The burglars went into every room looking for things of value and left the property in a very untidy state. The victims are understandably shaken and upset by the whole incident.
“The jewellery stolen during the burglary is distinctive and I am sure from the description of the items, it will jog someone’s memory if they have been offered one or all of the pieces. Possibly someone may have seen them on the Internet or on an auction site and their information could be vital to finding the culprits.
“I would like to speak to anyone who was in Hilltop Lane on Wednesday, 17 February, around 2.30pm, who may have seen something suspicious, to come forward with their information.”
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference TD/10/783 or Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
