Caterham Cricket Club formed in 1873 and played in Queens Park in Caterham- on-the-Hill at a variety of levels very successfully for nearly 100 years until our pavillion was burnt down by vandals in 2005. After many discussions with various bodies it was decided that we should merge the cricket club with the Old Caterhamians Rugby club and form the Old Caterhamians Sports Association. Our new home became Park Avenue, about half a mile away from the site of our old pavillion. Our relocation in 2006 meant that a new cricket square had to be laid at our new home and over the last three years the new square has bedded in and plays brilliantly - one of the best in Surrey! We run three teams on a Saturday, two in the Fullers Surrey County League and one in the Surrey Championship. On Sundays we have one team that plays friendly matches. We have a ladies team and a girls team; we also have some 70 boys aged between 8 and 17 who play in the cup competitions in the East Surrey Colts League.
As in all sports we are constantly looking for new players both senior and junior, male and female. Indoor training has already started and will run until the end of March ready for outdoor training in April. Anybody interested in playing the beautiful game please contact me, Tony Parrett, Colts Manager on 01883 342283 and I will supply you with details of the various people responsible for senior and junior teams, male and female.
