With the finish line to the season starting to come into sight, Whyteleafe still have a lot of work to do to avoid potential relegation. I say potential, as relegated teams in 21st place have been reprieved in all of the last three seasons due to league reorganisation. However we do not want to rely on that. The new look team has certainly seen form improve with one win and two draws in the last five league games plus a couple of friendly wins, but there still seems to be a problem getting the ball in the net, with Leafe at the time of writing having gone four games without a goal. The month started with an impressive 3-0 win against Corinthian Casuals which was sandwiched by two friendly wins against Croydon (3- 1) and Kingstonian (2-0), so hopes were high for a turnaround. However this was followed up with a 0-0 draw at Sittingbourne and then losses to Chipstead (0-1) and Dulwich (0-2) before another 0-0 draw, this time at home to Hythe. The Hythe game had been rearranged following the postponement of the first game due to the collapse of the referee who went into anaphylactic shock after being stung by a bee. Excellent on pitch care was administered by Gemma, the Leafe physio, until the ambulance arrived. The story not only made the papers locally but also as far afield as Turkey, Indonesia and Ireland! I'm pleased to say the ref made a full recovery. You can cheer the Leafe on during April on the 9th v Merstham and the season closing game on the 28th v Whitstable Town.
