Thirteen year old Ellie Parmar has, once again, qualified for the England U15 Fencing squad that will be travelling to Poland in March to compete in the Challenge Wratislavia, which is the largest U15 fencing event in the world and is regarded as the Youth European Championships. Last year the event attracted 2386 fencers from 31 countries.
The event is open to individuals but England Fencing has selected the top twelve U15 fencers and invited them to compete. Ellie is ranked 6th in the U15 national rankings and is top in her own age group so is well within the criteria.
As part of her training and development programme, Ellie will be entering several big competitions over the next couple of months, including her first "Opens" and Juniors (U23), neither of which she has been old enough to enter until this month.
Head of Third Year, Magnus Anderson said: ‘Ellie is a truly impressive person. She is doing very well academically and is also a fantastic fencer. She trains three times a week in addition to competing in events every other weekend. Yet she also manages to participate in other co-curricular activity at school. Despite all of this success she remains hugely modest about her achievements. We all wish her well in these competitions.’
