On Wednesday 11th February the Caterham School 1st hockey team showed considerable stamina and determination to win six hockey matches and become Surrey U18 Champions.
In the early stages the team overcame Lingfield Notre Dame, KCS Wimbledon, Alleyns School and St. Georges. They then played local rivals Trinity in the semi final and secured a 2-0 victory.
The final against RGS Guildford was played at 5.30pm, eight hours after their first match. This was their most challenging match as the team were 0-1 down before coming back to win 2-1.
Mr Andrew Patterson, Head of Hockey, said: ‘I am delighted for the whole squad. I think that this was a great achievement because they were clearly tiring by the time they reached the final. I was really impressed by the boys because not only did they demonstrate considerable skill, they also showed great character to come back from 0-1 against a very good team.’
