Local schools celebrate record breaking GCSE results |

de Stafford School in Caterham, the Oasis Academy in Old Coulsdon and Warlingham School are all celebrating their best-ever GCSE results this summer. Thousands of GCSE students received their grades yesterday and Surrey schools' results were amongst the best in the country. Following the release of the GCSE results yesterday, Peter Martin, Surrey County Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Learning, said: "State schools in Surrey and the teachers who work at them are some of the best in the country and yet again they have helped pupils achieve excellent GCSE results. It's a pleasure to see the hard work and effort of so many young people pay off. "Good grades are the result of teamwork between all those involved including teachers, parents, governors and of course the pupils themselves. I'm sure everyone involved will join me in congratulating the students on their successes. "Today is a day for celebration, and I'm confident in the coming months and years our schools will continue to work with and encourage our young people to further unlock their potential and ensure continued success." de Stafford school celebrated an even better set of GCSE results this year breaking the record set by last year's students.
